Today marks the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, a literature laureate whose imagination beautifully captured emotions, especially the tender bond between a mother and child. As the occasion coincides with Mother’s Day, I had the opportunity to paint live at my school’s Rabindra Jayanti celebration, inspired by one of Gurudev’s most cherished poems, “Lukochuri”. The poem delicately portrays a child playing hide and seek with his mother, secretly watching her from behind a tree. Rabindranath lost his mother at a very young age makes his portrayal of this bond even more touching. Painting live has always been one of my biggest fears because I constantly worry about the outcome and whether I’ll be able to do justice to the vision in my mind! But today I stepped beyond that fear, and realised that growth begins the moment we allow ourselves to try. . . . #rabindrajayanti #mothersday #livepainting #paintingoftheday
