PostsFresco-like canvases draw on Bhakti and Sufi traditions, ancient manuscripts, devotional songs and stories of mystic devotees in the works of V. Ramesh (@rameshvedhanbatla ) who turns his attention to figures and voices often pushed to the margins. Saints dissolve into landscapes, while devotion takes shape through translucent washes rather than fixed iconography. In 𝘚𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴, a survey of the artist’s practice, Ramesh explores the intersections of faith, spiritual experience and cultural memory, bringing to the fore those who sought the divine on their own terms. Through moments of stillness, longing and quiet contemplation, his paintings invite us to consider the sacred beyond established forms and rituals, as something found in silence, surrender and our connection with the world around us. 𝘚𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 a survey exhibition of V. Ramesh, presented by Gallery Threshold (@gallerythreshold ), is on view until 17 October 2026 at CCA, Bikaner House, New Delhi. Image courtesy of V. PostsGoing about our Wednesday with a feline friend, as is this week’s #MidweekMasterpiece by celebrated Indian artist 𝗚𝗼𝗴𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗷 𝗣𝗮𝗹 (1945–2024). 🐅 Pal’s paintings explored femininity, desire, exploitation and the structures that shape women’s lives, often drawing on figures and symbols from Indian mythology. The 𝘒𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘶 — the wish-fulfilling cow — became a recurring metaphor for womankind, reflecting both her capacity to give and the anguish of exploitation. Her 𝘕𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘬𝘢 series further explored feminine attraction, sensuality and the complexities of desire. While Pal’s work engaged deeply with the female condition, she resisted being defined solely as a ‘feminist artist’. Her enduring practice speaks instead to the many complexities and contradictions of human life. PostsConfronting the frailty of self and playing on the grotesque, the group exhibition, 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙍𝙤𝙩, by Method (@methoddelhi) brings together art that is a bit too real, and a bit grotesque. Here reality sags at the edges, faces blur into feeling, and the grotesque blooms quietly beneath the familiar. Part monstrous and part human, the exhibition lingers in that uncomfortable in-between, where selfhood feels fragile, porous, and always on the verge of becoming something else. The exhibition, 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙍𝙤𝙩, is on view, May 9 - July 3, 2026 Method, Defence Colony, New Delhi.

The once-discarded sickles, dumbbells, sieves, scissors, and knives are brought together to form emblems, insignias, and towers that subvert symbolic expectations by showcasing a combination of skeletons, corpses, and carapaces—all decomposing and mutating. Posts𝘛𝘺𝘦𝘣 𝘔𝘦𝘩𝘵𝘢: 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 (𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨) marks the birth centenary of one of the country’s most influential modernists, bringing a landmark retrospective to the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. Presented with the Tyeb Mehta Foundation (@tyebmehtafoundation ) and Saffronart Foundation (@saffronartfoundation ), and curated by Roobina Karode (@roobinakarode ), the exhibition gathers 120+ works spanning five decades — from the searing 𝘍𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦 and 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 to the mythic force of Kali and Mahishasura, alongside his 1970 film 𝘒𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘭. Mehta’s stark compositions and inward-looking figurative work are reminiscent of the distinctive expressive language he cultivated during his prolific career, through which he confronted violence, rupture, and endurance, having witnessed several conflicts across the country, including the Partition of India, as well as the asymmetries and onslaught of daily life. The characteristic diagonal that splits many of his compositions, along with emotionally charged faces with gaping mouths and dismembered bodies featuring bulls, rickshaw pullers, birds, and drummers, made for a compelling contribution that reshaped the language of modern Indian art. 📍𝘛𝘺𝘦𝘣 𝘔𝘦𝘩𝘵𝘢: 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 (𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨) is on view at KNMA Saket (@knmaindia) in New Delhi until June 30. ReelsIn collaboration with our Artist in Residence Gift Collaboration partner Strange Co. (@thestrange_co), we present a thoughtfully curated box that finds beauty in the ordinary. Made from corrugated sheet, the packaging embraces its raw, imperfect edges, letting materiality speak for itself. Inside, ceramicware is carefully encased alongside a catalogue sharing the story of the collaboration and its artists. ReelsMEET AFRAH SHAFIQ (@loveandotheroutdoorgames) - this year’s The Future is Born of Art Commission winner! The Future Is Born of Art Commission, presented by BMW India (@bmwindia_official), marks a significant shift in how we think about public engagement at the fair. To mark this milestone 5th edition of the commission, it is being realised on the fair’s facade this year. Under the theme Crafting in Continuum, Afrah Shafiq’s A Giant Sampler draws on the visual language of an embroidery sampler, akin to a sketchbook where motifs are practised and preserved, to foreground textile motifs and practices that have historically shaped women’s lives–from everyday labour to rites of passage. Drawing from cross-stitch and counted-thread embroidery traditions from around the world, the façade brings together a diverse global archive of patterns into a single composition. Centipede from Kheng, Meghalaya, mangoes from Karnataka, and a shaman from Peru, there’s a lot to see and learn about and explore in a special AR layer that allows you to interact with the work. We invite visitors into a visual locating game – prompting them to identify the BMW wheel motif embedded within a constellation of embroidered forms. Download the Sample This! app on your Google Play store and scan the facade through the free access Wifi & Password given below Username- SAMPLE THIS PASSWORD- Facade@IAF26 India Art Fair is led in partnership with BMW India @bmwindia_official and this year, we mark #10YearsWithBMW

Led in a foundation to support and collaborate with artisan communities, the studio positions craft as a shared process where knowledge is valued through mutual care and nurturing long-term relationships over replication and speed. From their studio in Gandhinagar, Morii Design works with artisans across multiple villages, supporting the continuation of embroidery traditions including Sujni from Bihar, Rabari and Jat from Kutch, and Kantha from Bengal. Beginning in the villages themselves, the studio’s process centres on learning, documenting, and reimagining stitch vocabularies, building new expressions that honour tradition while embracing contemporary design thinking. ReelsIn our next BMW Artist Film, step into the world of Amol K Patil (@amolkpatil ), where movement, sound, and stillness carry the weight of memory. Set within his ongoing exhibition A Forest of Remembrance at Project 88 (@project88mumbai ), the film unfolds as a space of listening — attuned to histories of labour, migration, and resistance that course through the city. Patil’s work draws from familial lineages shaped by storytelling and dissent. His grandfather, a Powada Shahir, carried epic narratives across villages; his father, an avant-garde playwright, staged the anxieties of displacement and migration through absurdity. For Patil, art emerges from this inheritance — not as representation, but as a lived, collective practice. In a city driven by relentless urbanisation, the artist builds spaces where working-class bodies return — not as symbols, but as presence. In this film, he reflects on making as an act of attention: one that listens closely, honours repetition, and insists on remembering in a world structured to forget. India Art Fair’s BMW Artist Films spotlight the practices of leading contemporary artists from South Asia, offering an intimate view into their studios and lives. The films are supported by India Art Fair’s presenting partner, BMW India (@bmwindia_official) #10YearsWithBMW To learn more about Amol K Patil’s work, visit the #linkinbio

Reels‘The Future is Born of Art’ Commission returns for a milestone 5th edition! India Art Fair celebrates 10 years of partnership with BMW India, alongside the fifth year of the coveted ‘The Future is Born of Art’ Commission, to be unveiled at the 2026 edition of India Art Fair in New Delhi, from 5–8 February. This prestigious commission is awarded to an Indian artist, inviting them to create an immersive installation inspired by this year’s theme, ‘Crafting in Continuum’. The theme calls on artists to imagine a future where hand and machine work in unison—a continuum where tradition meets technology, and where design shifts its focus from the fast to the slow, from the disposable to the enduring. The winning artist will present a work that transforms a prominent space at the fair into a digital tapestry, exploring how the tactile and the digital can converge to shape the future. As one of the largest artist commissions in India, ‘The Future is Born of Art’ celebrates BMW India and India Art Fair’s shared belief in the power of art, creativity, and innovation in building a sustainable collective future. The final work will be unveiled at the fair’s upcoming 17th edition. Stay tuned as we announce the winner and their work! Experience it all at #IAF2026. PostsRevisiting the walk-through of Salt Lines with Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin @himalisinghsoin and David Soin Tappeser @davidsointappeser) at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai. One of the centrepieces of the walkthrough was Namak Halal / Namak Haram - a textile installation that reflects on the Inland Customs Line, a 4,000 km long colonial barrier - 2500 km of which in form of a living hedge - constructed by the British to enforce their tax on common salt. Interweaving archival research with speculative histories, Salt Lines invites a re-examination of how imperial systems continue to inform contemporary ideas of division, value, and belonging. Salt Lines is presented by Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, in collaboration with RMZ Foundation and India Art Fair, with curatorial advisor Tasneem Zakaria Mehta, and supported by Alkazi Foundation for the Arts. PostsThe blue of a sheet of tarpaulin—creased, industrial, stubborn. The material meant to cover cargo and offer shelter from the rain suddenly feels charged, almost sentient. In 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨, Madhu Das (@madhudasd) turns this working-class skin into a fault line where bodies, landscapes and memory slip in and out of form, sparring with a media landscape that won’t quiet down, won’t stop reframing how we see ourselves, our labour, our unrest. Das’s work isn’t preoccupied by spectacle but in what happens when we sit inside the discomfort. The numbing repetition of a body trapped in its own rhythm. The body trying to hold its shape as the world keeps tugging at its seams. Everything feels slightly off-axis—familiar, but frayed; tender, but bruised. What emerges is a kind of uneasy poetry: a reminder that “home” is less a destination and more a moving contour, reshaped every day by the forces that touch us, move us, and sometimes overwhelm us. 📍𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 is on view at Gallery Maskara (@gallerymaskara) in Mumbai until December 20, 2025. PostsThe body holds meanings, resists classification, and is in a perpetual state of flux. Bringing together artistic inquiries into the body as source of the artistic imagination across two centuries, உடல் | 𝘜𝘥𝘢𝘭: 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘷𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 offers a sweeping reflection on embodiment. From Rajput miniatures and ritual imaginaries to the modernist shifts of Santiniketan and Bombay, and into the exploratory vocabularies of contemporary practice, the exhibition maps how artists have long returned to the body as site. Featuring works by artists including Rabindranath Tagore, Somnath Hore, FN Souza, Arpita Singh, Manjit Bawa, Krishna Reddy, to contemporary voices such as Shilpa Gupta, Varunika Saraf, Rekha Rodwittiya, LN Tallur, and Praneet Soi — the exhibition flows across registers of myth, desire, violence, fantasy and care. And what’s emphasised is the body’s inseparable entanglements with time, structures, longing, and to each other. 📍உடல் | 𝘜𝘥𝘢𝘭: 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘷𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 is #OnView at Alliance Française of Madras (@afmadras) in Chennai until December 22, 2025 Image Courtesy Avtar Foundation for the Arts (@avtarfoundation) and the artists.

Posts'Salt Lines' by Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin & David Soin Tappeser) previewed yesterday at the Museum! Salt Lines treats the lost archive of the colonial Inland Customs Line as a poetic and political space that acquires a mythical resonance which continues to permeate the present. This 4,000km long border–2,500km of which constituted a fence of plants, known as ‘The Great Hedge of India’–was imposed by the British in the 19th century to enforce the Empire's deadly monopoly on salt. Salt Lines acquires a deeper effect in the context of the erstwhile Victoria and Albert Museum, now the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, set up in 1857, especially to promote trade with the Empire. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with RMZ Foundation and India Art Fair, and supported by the Alkazi Foundation. A big thank you to everyone who joined us at the preview. Stay tuned for upcoming walkthroughs and workshops. On view until 8 February 2025 Museum entry ticket applicable.

Posts𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯-𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺? The gravity of absence is such that it traps one in a pull consolidating memory, feeling, and time into new shapes. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 explores how artists use shapes, colours, and abstract forms to express ideas that go beyond what we can easily recognise. In postcolonial India, many modern and contemporary artists searched for a way of creating art free from the influence of pre existing traditions. In doing so, they developed new, unconventional visual languages that helped shape the emerging nation’s own artistic identity. From the introspective geometries of Seher Shah (@s_e_h_e_r_s), to the fragile, minute geometric explorations of Jyothi Basu (@kissp_frank), the layered vivid colours in Mehlli Gobhai’s (@mehlligobhai) paintings and Zarina’s (@hashmizarina) cartographic enquiries, and the abstract visual pursuits of Manisha Parekh (@manisha.parekh5), each work becomes a small aperture into how we hold, and are held by the unknown and the unclassifiable. The exhibition brings together over a hundred artworks from the personal collection (@salonidoshicollection ) of Mumbai-based patron Saloni Doshi (@yourstrulysaloni), curated by architect and designer Kunal Shah (@kunalshahdesigns), these artworks inhabit absence in a way that produces an active gesture of witnessing how an imprint can be louder than an object, how a trace can bear more weight than a presence, and how silence becomes a medium in its own right. 📍𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 is now #OnView at @space118_foundation in Mumbai, until February 16, 2026. Open on Sundays and all public holidays.
PostsTwo days to opening. And inside the museum, salt lines begin to take space. In the lead up to Salt Lines, we step behind the scenes with Hylozoic/Desires (@himalisinghsoin & @davidsointappeser), as a centuries-old history of extraction, empire and resistance is reassembled in the present. Salt becomes a way to remember the violences of taxation, labour, extraction, and colonial control, even as it traces the shifting coastline, where erosion, tidal pull and environmental precarity shape a landscape in perpetual flux. From a fragment of the monumental Namak Halal / Namak Haram textile installation to the unfolding of The Hedge of Halomancy, the iconic Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum is transformed into a charged terrain where myth, memory, ecology and empire collide — and begin to unravel. ReelsWe meet artist Shailesh BR (@shailesh.br ), whose kinetic sculptures, drawings and machine-built devices probe systems of ritual, belief and logic. For Shailesh, art is a way of building registers of the world, turning a lifelong fascination with how things work — and why we trust them. His studio is filled with machines, motors, air compressors, treated canvases, documents, breathing devices built from brass instruments, repurposed objects, typewritten notations, and kinetic sculptures that perform with the self-consciousness of ritual. Drawing from Tarka Shastra, the Sanskrit tradition of analytical reasoning, and from years of research-based residencies at world renowned institutions including ICTS Bengaluru and CERN Geneva, Shailesh’s practice asks us to pay attention to the ‘workings’ of the systems that govern us and our beliefs. In this BMW Artist Film, Shailesh BR takes us into his basement studio in Noida, revealing a practice that is deeply rooted in observation, inquisitiveness and inquiry. India Art Fair’s BMW Artist Films spotlight the practices of leading contemporary artists from South Asia, offering an intimate view into their studios and lives. The films are supported by India Art Fair’s presenting partner, BMW India (@bmwindia_official ) Head to the #linkinbio to read more about our visit and watch the full film. #IAF2026 #IndiaArtFair #ArtistFilm #IndianArt #KineticArt #ContemporaryArt
Reels𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦. In this trailer for Salt Lines, Hylozoic/Desires (@himalisinghsoin & @davidsointappeser) turns to salt into measure and ledger — a material that remembers the violences of extraction, taxation and labour that shaped our colonial past while tracing the shifting choreography of the coastline, where erosion, tidal pull and environmental precarity shape a landscape in perpetual flux, just as we have snow lines and tree lines, salt lines may be markers of a new climate era of saline waters. PostsWith 𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘪 (𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦), Ajay Dhapa (@ajaydhapa) takes us to his hometown in Jamnagar by the same name: to a neighbourhood shaped by shared walls, open doors, and everyday rituals — all woven together through the shared architecture of belonging. Dhapa uses floral carpet motifs to turn memories into intricate visual tapestries in his meticulously detailed canvases — where patterned floors bloom like living maps, and miniature-like figures inhabit scenes drawn from the humour, tenderness, and frictions of daily life in a multilingual community. Each work becomes a window into an ecosystem held together not by grandeur but by the delicate constancy of human connection. Through this intimately drawn out archive, Dhapa shows us that what truly endures in a place are the fragile, fragrant threads of coexistence rather than its monuments or proclamations. 📍𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘪 (𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦) is #OnView at Rukshaan Art (@rukshaanart), Mumbai, until December 14.
