For 15 years, I was so used to a life that was constantly moving. Work. Meetings. Deadlines. Targets. People. Responsibilities. And somewhere in all of that, I never really experienced what it feels like to just… be with myself. Today, as a stay-at-home mom and woman, I’ve discovered a completely different side of life. There are a few quiet hours after my child leaves for school and my husband leaves for work, when it’s just me, in my own company. Sometimes I put on my favourite track. Sometimes I work out. Sometimes I do something I love. And sometimes… I literally do nothing. And surprisingly, those “nothing” moments have given me something I never knew I needed - a deeper connection with myself. I am beginning to understand what actually makes me happy, what gives me peace, what drains me, what excites me… and what kind of energy I want to bring into my own home and my own life. Maybe this is self-awareness. Maybe it’s self-awakening. Whatever it is, I wish I had experienced this version of myself a little earlier. Because as women, we spend so much of our lives giving - to our children, our partners, our families, our work, everyone around us. And we often forget that we also need a little time where nobody needs anything from us.
